Geagea: Mass grave rumor is in reply to FPM’s defeat in the Order of Engineers and Architects election

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said he regrets that MP Michel Aoun is practicing politics by spreading rumors.

“Political
rivalry is not about digging graves and disfiguring the image of
others,” Geagea said after meeting Australian Ambassador to Lebanon
Lyndall Sachs. “Everyone knows where mass graves are located,” he
continued, referring to the report published by Nahar Al-Shabab weekly
that a mass grave exists under the Hilat Highway in Jbeil.

According
to one local resident interviewed by the paper, corpses are buried one
meter under ground level, and in 2002, while a maintenance company was
doing work on the highway, foul-smelling bags were discovered
underground, yet no investigation was undertaken at the time.

“These
rumors a similar to the one Aoun spread, when he showed a picture of a
Hezbollah member and claimed it was a Lebanese Forces member,” Geagea
added.

“I don’t know if this rumor is a reply to the FPM’s defeat in the Order of Engineers and Architects election,” he said.
