MP Akram Shehayeb on Tuesday accused Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah of pledging to shed the blood of writers and journalists who oppose his policy.

Shehayeb, commenting on an address by Nasrallah on Monday, said the Hizbullah leader "cannot pretend to be an advocate of democracy, because he who believes in democracy doesn't threaten his opponents and their lives while attacking some former revolutionaries whom he termed apostates, be they writers or journalists."

"As if he said watch out writers and journalists more blood would be shed," Shehayeb said of Nasrallah.

He said Nasrallah's "catastrophe was his declaration of open war on Israel" after Imad Mughniyeh's Feb. 12 assassination by a bomb explosion in Damascus.

"He tried yesterday to reassure his followers by saying Israel cannot launch war because war is no more a picnic," Shehayeb added.

Nasrallah "wants Lebanon to remain stuck between booby-trapped peace and forbidden war to maintain his weapons in order to keep Lebanon in a state of no war and no peace pending regional developments," he concluded.
