Lebanon Has No Bird Flu
The Health Ministry on Saturday warned against spreading false reports about a confirmed human case of bird flu in Lebanon.
The ministry, in a statement, accused unnamed pesticide agents of spreading rumors that a person had passed away of bird flu virus in Kesrouan county's Ghabaleh village.
The statement said doctors who treated the unnamed person at hospital testified that he did not even suffer from pulmonary infection and had passed away of other problems than bird flu.
The ministry also sent teams to the village, checked chicken farms and found no traces of bird flu in the area, the statement added.
It accused such pesticide dealers of "spreading the rumors to achieve profit" and vowed to refer such rumormongers to the judiciary for legal action.
