Geagea: Saddiq’s disappearance will not influence the course of investigation
Lebanese
Forces leader Samir Geagea said that the opposition is using any detail
related to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon as a pretext to criticize
it and described it as being politicized.
“Now
the opposition is focusing on the disappearance of Mohammed Zuheir
As-Saddiq whose testimony is one of thousands of statements and
evidences over the assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri,” Geagea
declared.
“If
Saddiq is really missing, his testimony will be considered as
nonexistent and will not affect the course of investigation,’ he added.
Geagea
noted that Syria’s attempts aimed at obstructing the Special Tribunal
for Lebanon indicate that Damascus is involved in the assassination of
Hariri.
“The
sudden call for dialogue reminds us of the national round table
dialogue which resulted in decisions that were not implemented and in a
destructive war,” Geagea said while hinting at the July 2006 war.
“We
are waiting to see whether this call for dialogue is serious or is it
just a maneuver to waste time and obstruct the presidential elections.”
“We
will not accept that dialogue be managed by some people who has taken
sides that contradicts with the principles of dialogue,” Geagea
declared.
