Geagea sues over location of mass graves
Lebanese
Forces (LF) leader Samir Geagea has filed a lawsuit against former MP
Nasser Qandil, a judicial report said on Thursday. Following a visit to
Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun last week, Qandil accused
Geagea of knowing the locations of mass graves from the 1975-1990 Civil
War.
Geagea
called for launching an investigation against Qandil and for putting
him on trial. He also demanded some 10 billion LL, almost $7 million,
to be paid in damages. "The locations of mass graves are secrets known
only by Qandil's allies," the LF's media section said in a statement.
Efforts to locate a mass grave north reported north of Beirut last week
failed, and police questioned several people suspected of having
deliberately misled investigators.
