Patriarch celebrates Palm Sunday
Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Butros Sfeir hosted a Palm Sunday mass at Notre Dame Church Bkirki. After the service, Sfeir received Lebanese Forces MP Georges Adwan with whom he discussed current events.
Sfeir's mass did not tackle any political issues.
Separately, the vice president of the Higher Shiite Council, Abdel-Amir Qabalan, sent a letter to the Islamic Affairs Supreme Council Conference held in Cairo stressing the importance of maintaining Islam's peaceful message.
"Terrorist attacks are mutilating Islam's image ... for there is no hatred toward non-Muslims in our religion as it is a religion of mercy, equalityEqual-Pay-No-Way and peace," the letter said.
Qabalan also called on Islamic countries to work to put an end to chaos in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Palestine. He also urged them "to condemn anyone who offends Islamic spiritual and religious values."
