Israeli police have arrested a career army non-commissioned officer on suspicion he passed military information to Hizbullah and smuggled drugs from Lebanon, Israel's Ynetnews reported on its website.

The NCO, who was not identified, was arrested one month ago, for allegedly giving Hizbullah information on Israeli troop deployments, in return for being allowed to smuggle drugs into Israel from Lebanon, Ynetnews said Monday.

Two other suspects, a 30-year-old resident of Nazareth and a 26-year-old resident of a village in northern Israel, were also nabbed while in possession of two kilograms of heroin worth an estimated 350,000 dollars.

The first suspect, Abed Zuabi is believed to have headed the drug-smuggling operation, Ynetnews said.
On Sunday, an indictment was filed against Zuabi and the second suspect Shir Haib, the website reported, adding that police said the NCO is expected to be indicted Thursday.
